In the heart of Dresdens City – opposite the Zwinger and Semperoper – you will find a very special experience. Get snatched to the splendid ages of the baroque around the times of August the Strong. In different vaults you can feast in a romantic ambience as well as enjoy suckling pig, freshly baked bread and saxon beer in rooms like the so called "Zeithainer Lustlager".

In the "Alchimistenkeller" – a cave where Johann Friedrich Böttger solved the mystery of porcelain and invented the “White Gold” – visitors are welcome to enjoy the "Alchimist’s delight". Of course, a self drawn beer or a glass of Saxonian wine will make this even more pleasurable.

Last but not least you should not miss out on the famous funnel drinking, called "Dresdner Trichtertrinken".

Great German food, excellent service.
We sat inside and the décor was innovative and rather playful. We loved it, especially my kids. We had an exceptional meal here. The food was delicious in portions of a good size. The staff was friendly and attentive and the prices reasonable.

A bit of tradition with good inexpensive food.
We went last year with some German friends and returned this year - on both occasions the staff were friendly and helpful, the atmosphere busy but relaxed. The food is good traditional fayre :-) . Whenever I am in Dresden one night here is a must.

Lots of fun
Great German experience, big and noisy with quirky decor. Lots of menu choices - pork and duck main features. Good gluten free choices when asked. Servers in traditional costumes and very cheeky. A really fun night out.

Our vault Rooms at Sophienkeller

You will find the restaurant in the historical centre of Dresden in the vaultet ceilings of the "Taschenbergpalais" opposite to the chimes pavillion of the "Dresdner Zwinger". On the outskirts and easy to reach by foot are the "Semperoper", the "Goldene Reiter", the "Brühlsche Terrasse" and the "Frauenkirche".

Some of the original walls of the “Einsiedelsche Häuser” buildings, datting back to the 14th century, ca still be seen – in the place which was at the foundation of Saxony’s Glory.
